Join Gate Charity and World Vision, Support Somalia's Famine Victims
Gate Charity, Gate Group’s non-profit philanthropic organization, and World Vision are joining hands to launch Somalia Food Crisis Support Project to support Somalia’s Famine Victims.
Nearly 50 million people are on the brink of starvation in at least 45 countries around the world. We have not seen a hunger crisis like this in modern times, with countries in Africa, Latin America, the Middle East and Asia affected. In countries like Somalia millions of people are suffering from starvation.
-The impact of multiple conflicts, including the war in Ukraine, the cradle of global wheat production, is creating a perfect storm for the world’s most vulnerable children.
-The adverse effects of climate change, such as droughts, floods, extreme storms and unpredictable weather, have destroyed crops and incomes, even causing massive locust swarms in some countries to devastate harvests.
-The aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic has led to global price hikes for food and other commodities. This prevents families from buying the basic foodstuffs they need to survive.
-Meanwhile, conflicts in multiple locations around the world are uprooting millions of people and destroying homes, lives and livelihoods.
Gate Charity will now launch the Somalia Food Crisis Support Project, to encourage donations to give food to families affected by famine. With the funds raised from the donation channel, the Gate Charity team joins hands with World Vision, on an agreement with the UN World Food Programme means that every €1 donated by one person is multiplied by 27. A donation of €1,000 becomes €27,000 with WFP’s contribution. This will provide food to families affected by famine in Somalia, especially children whose survival depends on humanitarian aid. Basic food baskets for families and therapeutic food for the youngest children are a priority right now.
