On July 31, according to Decrypt, a young cybercriminal was sentenced to prison for stealing NFTs and Crypto Assets by exploiting hijacked social media accounts on platform X (formerly Twitter). 22-year-old Canadian citizen Cameron Albert Redman was sentenced to one year in prison on Tuesday for conspiracy to commit wire fraud, wire fraud, and conspiracy to commit aggravated identity theft. In 2022, Redman and his accomplices used hacked social media accounts of digital artists to post links to counterfeit websites of well-known creators and brands, scamming over 200 victims in just a few days, with a total fraud amount of $794,000.
