Why has there not been a dictator in the United States for more than two hundred years since its founding?
The separation of powers is indeed the founding system of the United States, but it is not the fundamental system of the country; there are systems that are far more important than the separation of powers in the fundamental system of the United States.
The so-called separation of powers is actually just nonsense; the essence can be summed up in two words: power division.
Why decentralization is necessary? Because the United States is a democratically elected co-governance country, and dictators are not allowed to emerge. Dictators are the enemies of democratic co-governance. It is democratic co-governance that has unleashed the productivity of the United States, allowing it to dominate the world. Dictatorship will only lead the United States into a bottomless abyss.
The only way to defeat a dictator is to distribute power.
The progress of human development is due to the division of the emperor's power, which liberated thought and production forces.
The decentralization in the United States is comprehensive:
1. Horizontal decentralization. This refers to what we call the separation of powers. In fact, many departments in the United States are mutually independent and do not interfere with each other, not just the three branches. All top-level agencies in the United States are semi-independent and are only accountable to the voters. The correct understanding is N-way separation of powers.
2. Vertical decentralization: The president cannot command governors, governors cannot command county and city heads, and county and city heads cannot command township and street offices. They are all elected by voters, have no hierarchical relationship, and are only responsible to the voters. This is far more important than the separation of powers.
The president has no authority to appoint or dismiss them. The president may seem lofty and above it all, but in fact, they can choose to ignore him if they want, or not pay attention to him if they don’t.
In addition, if voters find the president unsatisfactory, they can use their ballots to force him out of office. If he dares to go against the ballots, there are guns to drive him out.
Of course, even the President of the United States finds it difficult to get through the Congress, which has three branches of government, let alone break through other barriers.
The United States divides power into very fragmented pieces, delegating it entirely to the people, giving the President of the United States no opportunity to act as a steering leader at all.
Americans are confident, believing that justice belongs to the people. Americans do not need the sun, nor do they need any leader to guide them; they are their own light.
