Hungarian Prime Minister accuses EU leaders of trying to overthrow his government

On October 13, Manfred · Weber, chairman of the European People's Party group in the European Parliament, and European Commission President von der Leyen posted on social media on October 9 about the political situation in Hungary. Weber even went so far as to say that Hungary Prime Minister Viktor Orban is "a thing of the past" and that Hungary's opposition leader, Peter · Maugjour, and his party "are the future." In an interview on October 11, Orban noted that Weber and von der Leyen were "openly expressing their intention to overthrow the current Hungary government." Mr. Orban said that while he had long felt that the two men "had this in mind," it was "unusual" to make such a public statement.
