Israeli military claims to have killed Hamas military leader, Hamas official: only the leadership can confirm
On August 1st, local time, Ismail Haniyeh, the political bureau member of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), said that it is up to the leadership of the Qassam Brigades and Hamas to confirm or deny the death of any Qassam Brigades leader. Unless either side announces it, no media or any other party can confirm it. The Qassam Brigades is an armed faction affiliated with Hamas. Earlier that day, Israel issued a statement claiming that it had killed Mohammed Deif, the head of Hamas' military wing, in an operation on July 13th.
