Multi-chain DePIN projects are thriving, showcasing their unique features such as Ether and Solana.
Overview of DePIN Projects Development on L1 and L2
With the rapid development of decentralized physical infrastructure networks (DePIN), major public blockchain platforms are actively laying out related projects. Although Solana has recently attracted much attention, some well-known DePIN projects have also begun to choose Arbitrum and Polygon as their underlying chains. At the same time, public chains focused on DePIN, such as IoTex and Peaq, as well as L1 and L2 chains that emphasize AI development, like Near and Aptos, are also making continuous efforts.
Ethereum: Application Diversification
The DePIN projects on Ethereum exhibit diverse characteristics:
ORA: A verifiable AI oracle that is developing opML technology, dedicated to bringing AI models on-chain.
ATOR: A DePIN WiFi network project where users can earn token rewards by connecting to the network and contributing bandwidth. Currently, the total number of nodes is approximately 3,400.
AIOZ: A comprehensive DePIN solution that covers application scenarios such as Web3 storage, decentralized AI computing, streaming, and video on demand. The current number of nodes exceeds 180,000.
Janction: A Layer2 project focused on AI, providing GPU networking and traceable data input services for small and medium-sized enterprises and startups.
Deeper: Decentralized VPN Network (DPN), users can earn token rewards by contributing idle bandwidth. Currently has about 150,000 nodes.
Solana: Leading Node Scale
The DePIN project on the Solana blockchain is characterized by a large number of nodes:
Helium: A decentralized wireless hotspot network where users can earn token rewards by sharing network bandwidth. The current number of nodes exceeds 1 million.
Render: A decentralized GPU network where users can connect idle GPUs to complete rendering tasks and earn tokens. Currently has nearly 4000 nodes.
HiveMapper: A decentralized map network where users contribute data to the map by connecting dash cams and receive token rewards. The current number of nodes exceeds 150,000.
DePHY: One-stop DePIN development framework aimed at simplifying the development process of DePIN projects.
HajimeAI: An AI sidechain in the Solana ecosystem, dedicated to bringing multi-intelligent AI on-chain, allowing users to become nodes to provide computing power support for AI reasoning and training.
Polygon: High Activity of DePIN
The DePIN projects on Polygon are showing an active trend:
DIMO: A decentralized automotive data network where users can create and share verified vehicle data streams to earn token rewards. Currently, the number of nodes exceeds 100,000.
WIFI Map: WiFi hotspot network, users earn tokens by contributing WiFi resources. As an upgraded version of the original Web2 product, it currently has about 15 million nodes.
Geodnet: A geographic data network that allows users to earn rewards by connecting GNSS antennas, applied in fields such as agriculture, transportation, and geospatial data products. Currently has nearly 9,000 nodes.
Arbitrum: A Classic Project Takes Root
There are some mature DePIN projects on Arbitrum:
Livepeer: A well-established decentralized video streaming network where nodes contribute CPU/GPU resources and network bandwidth to provide live or on-demand services for businesses in exchange for token rewards. Currently has about 100 nodes, and regular users can participate in staking to earn rewards.
Wicrypt: A WiFi sharing platform where users purchase dedicated devices to share WiFi and earn tokens. The current number of nodes is nearing 2000.
IoTex: Sensor Project Aggregation
The DePIN project on the IoTex blockchain focuses on sensor applications:
Wayru: A decentralized WiFi network where users can purchase dedicated devices or use existing WiFi devices to set up nodes through the WayruOS system and earn token rewards by sharing WiFi.
Inferix: A decentralized GPU network where users can share idle GPU computing power to earn tokens. Currently has over 1500 nodes.
PowerPod: A decentralized electric vehicle charging pile network, where users can purchase charging equipment and share it to earn token rewards. This project has not officially launched yet.
Network3: A decentralized AI network where users can share bandwidth, computing power, and datasets to provide inference, fine-tuning, and training services for AI models in exchange for token rewards. Currently in the testing phase.
Peaq: Innovative Applications Emerging One After Another
The DePIN projects on Peaq present a diversified innovation:
Natix: A decentralized camera network aimed at building a real-time world map. Users can download a dedicated camera app to collect geographical images and earn token rewards.
Silencio: A global noise pollution measurement network where users can measure the surrounding noise pollution levels using their mobile phones to earn token rewards.
Overall, major public chain platforms are actively laying out DePIN projects, covering multiple fields such as WiFi, GPU, sensors, and geographic data. With the continuous development of technology, more innovative applications are expected to emerge in the future, further promoting the prosperity of the DePIN ecosystem.
