Kaia chain adds Mini Dapp ecosystem to lead on-chain rise, accelerating USDT native issuance for large-scale applications.
Kaia Ecosystem Development Report: On-chain Growth Paradigm Centered on Mini Dapp
1. Overview of the Kaia Blockchain Ecosystem
1.1 Predecessor and Team Background
Kaia is a new ecosystem formed by the merger of the two major blockchain projects Klaytn and Finschia, led by Kakao and LINE. Klaytn was launched in June 2019 by Ground X, a blockchain subsidiary of Kakao Group, with early governance consortium members including well-known South Korean companies such as LG Electronics, Celltrion, and Netmarble. LINE initially launched the LINK chain in August 2018 through its blockchain subsidiary LINE TECH PLUS and renamed it to Finschia in 2022. In April 2023, LINE established the Finschia Foundation in Abu Dhabi, responsible for operating the Finschia mainnet and its native cryptocurrency LINK. In January 2024, the Klaytn Foundation and the Finschia Foundation proposed a mainnet merger to the community, which officially launched the Kaia mainnet at the end of August 2024. The merged Kaia chain will be uniformly managed by the newly established Kaia DLT Foundation.
Kaia aims to be an L1 blockchain focused on large-scale applications, featuring high TPS and developer-friendly characteristics. Its core advantage lies in its mature SDK system and deep integration with KakaoTalk and LINE platforms, supporting various decentralized applications to run directly on these mainstream social platforms. As a public blockchain based on the BFT consensus mechanism, Kaia has been highly optimized and is committed to achieving enterprise-level reliability and performance standards, providing a solid underlying support for the next generation of Web3 applications.
1.2 Important Development History
1.3 Main Features
Kaia adopts a layered node architecture, including core units, consensus nodes, and proxy nodes. The network uses an improved Byzantine Fault Tolerance consensus algorithm, achieving a block time of 1 second and instant finality, currently having more than 50 consensus nodes, with a theoretical peak throughput of about 4000 TPS. The Kaia service chain provides a highly specialized execution environment, supporting cross-chain token transfers and data anchoring to the main chain.
Kaia is EVM compatible and supports smart contracts in the Ethereum ecosystem. The platform is integrated with various cross-chain bridges, allowing assets from Ethereum and other chains to flow seamlessly into Kaia. Kaia closely connects with the LINE instant messaging ecosystem, enabling developers to directly deploy native Dapps within the chat application by providing SDK/API. In May 2025, Tether will issue native USDT on the Kaia chain, allowing users to directly use stablecoins for payments and cross-border transfers within their daily chat interface.
Kaia adopts a sustainable token economic model: the native token KAIA is used to pay transaction fees and incentivize network operation. Each time a block is generated, new KAIA is allocated to block proposers, stakers, the ecological fund, and the infrastructure fund according to a fixed ratio. Kaia supports on-chain governance, allowing the annual inflation rate and fee model to be adjusted based on community resolutions.
Compared to other mainstream public chains, Kaia focuses on the Asian market, bringing in the massive user bases of Kakao and LINE into the Web3 ecosystem; it employs a second-level finality consensus algorithm technically; and it quickly integrates key assets like stablecoins into its ecosystem. These features give Kaia a unique advantage in promoting the large-scale application of blockchain.
2. Progress of Ecological Construction
2.1 Kaia Wave plan and Mini Dapp ecosystem
In August 2024, the Kaia mainnet will go live and launch the Kaia Wave program, enabling Web3 developers to build Mini Dapps for LINE Messenger users through the NEXT WEB SDK developed by LINE NEXT. The first batch of Mini Dapp projects will be launched within LINE Messenger in the first quarter of 2025.
Kaia has launched the Mini Dapp Growth Competition in collaboration with the LINE Dapp Portal, focusing on the monthly active users of the project and the rise of on-chain token holders. So far, two sessions have been successfully held, continuously driving the accelerated growth of the Kaia on-chain Mini Dapp ecosystem.
The simultaneously launched Dapp Portal serves as a Dapp directory and entry point that can be accessed directly through LINE Messenger, allowing users to discover and use various Kaia ecosystem Dapps without leaving the LINE environment.
2.2 Kaia Stablecoin Plan
In May 2025, Kaia reached a strategic partnership with Tether to natively issue USDT on the Kaia blockchain. These USDT have been integrated into the Mini Dapp ecosystem within LINE Messenger, allowing users to complete in-app payments, cross-border transfers, and DeFi activities directly within the LINE environment.
Many mainstream exchanges have supported the USDT-KAIA network, including Bitget, Bitfinex, Bybit, and Gate.
The Kaia team is fully promoting the issuance plan of the Korean won stablecoin. Sam Seo, the chairman of Kaia Chain, stated that the predecessor of Kaia, the Klaytn team, had participated in the CBDC project of the Bank of Korea, laying a good foundation for the development of stablecoins.
2.3 ecological investment progress
In April 2025, the Kaia Foundation received funding led by 1kx and Blockchain Capital, with participation from Galaxy Digital, The Spartan Group, IDG Capital, and others. These institutions will provide in-depth support in areas such as international market expansion, compliance framework construction, and ecological cooperation networks.
2.4 ecological strategic cooperation
2.5 Developer Support and Community Building
3. Summary of Excellent Project Cases in the Kaia Ecosystem
3.1 Excellent projects that have completed TGE
3.2 Other promising top projects
These projects fully demonstrate the competitiveness of the Kaia ecosystem in core areas such as gaming, setting a benchmark for the development of Web3 applications in more fields. In the future, Kaia will continue to promote Mini Dapp innovation and community co-construction, accelerating the transition of Web3 applications from "early adopters" to "mainstream users."
