zkSync Era Mainnet Launch: Analysis of Unique Architecture and Ecological Applications

Recently, the zkSync Era Alpha Mainnet has officially launched and is open for use by all users. Data shows that the transaction volume of zkSync was approximately 2,025,135 transactions that week, with a 7-day average transaction volume reaching an all-time high, and the total transaction volume has now surpassed 20 million transactions. The parent company of zkSync, Matter Labs, completed multiple rounds of financing in 2021 and 2022, with a total financing amount reaching 458 million USD. The CEO of Matter Labs stated that the launch of zkSync Era does not mean an immediate token issuance, as the network is currently still mainly centralized. It is expected that the consideration of launching a token will only occur about a year later when the sequencer needs to be decentralized.

Four Unique Architectures of zkSync Era

The zkSync Era network underwent a year of testing and multiple security audits before its launch on the Mainnet. Compared to the zkSync Lite network, Era has updated four key architectures:

1. Local abstract accounts: Allow payments of fees using any token, potentially enabling zero-fee transactions.

2. LLVM-based compiler: Built for EVM languages to enhance performance and development experience.

3. State difference release: brings advantages such as data compression, more frequent oracle updates, and more.

4. Super Chain: A highly scalable zkEVM instance that supports customizable consensus and validator sets.

To prevent serious errors from being exploited by hackers, zkSync Era has also introduced a block execution delay mechanism, initially configured for 24 hours.

zkSync Era Ecosystem Applications

Currently, there are over 240 applications based on or about to be deployed on the zkSync chain, covering multiple fields such as DeFi, GameFi, and infrastructure. Here are some of the major applications that have been deployed on the zkSync Era network:

Argent

Argent is a smart contract wallet that offers low gas fees, fast transactions, staking, and yield farming services. The project has completed two rounds of financing, raising a total of 52 million US dollars.

Mute

Mute is a decentralized exchange where users can trade, stake mine, and obtain bonds. The current total locked value is 1.39 million dollars.

mintsquare

mintsquare is an NFT trading platform that supports the zkSync Era testnet and the Alpha Mainnet. Currently, there are only two collections on the Mainnet: zkAPE and ZK domain.

Tevaera

Tevaera is a decentralized and gamified metaverse platform, including core products such as Teva Games, Teva Core, Teva Chain, Teva DEX, and Teva Market. It is currently still in the testnet phase.

SpaceFi

SpaceFi is a cross-chain Web3 platform based on Evmos and zkSync, connecting Cosmos and Layer2. Currently, it has launched trading and liquidity provision functions on the zkSync Era network.

Rhino

Rhino is a multi-chain DeFi aggregator that allows users to trade, stake, and perform cross-chain operations. Currently, the platform has launched a 48-hour free cross-chain service to enter the zkSync Era network.

Cross-Chain Bridge

Multiple cross-chain bridges have supported the zkSync Era network, including Celer, Orbiter, and multichain. The official cross-chain bridge has also been launched.
