CME FedWatch: The probability of a 25 basis point rate cut in September has risen to 91.8%.
On August 12, according to CME's "Fed Watch" data, after the CPI data was released, the probability of the Fed lowering interest rates by 25 basis points in September rose to 91.8%, while the probability of maintaining interest rates unchanged was 8.2%. (Before the CPI release, the probability of the Fed lowering rates in September was 82.5%.) The probability of the Fed maintaining rates unchanged until October is 2.2%, the probability of a cumulative 25 basis points rate cut is 31%, and the probability of a cumulative 50 basis points rate cut is 66.7%. The dates for the Fed's next two FOMC meetings are September 17 and October 29. Traders are increasing their bets on the Fed lowering rates in September and continue to bet on rate cuts in September and December.
